| sceneramic tips - digital camera lcd screens | | |
Does it seem like you're loading batteries into your
digital camera quicker than you can load nickels (okay,
so I'm cheap) into a one-armed bandit? If so, I bet you
use the LCD screen to frame every shot and/or show
the entire family, including the dog, every shot you just
took. If that's the case, you've just discovered how
they can afford all those energizer bunny commercials!Digital camera LCD screens drain batteries at an
incredible rate. So, once the novelty of using the
screen has subsided and you're more familiar with your
camera, leave it in the off position. Framing a shot
using the viewfinder on a point and shoot camera takes
a little practice, especially for close up work when you
have to allow for parallax (no, that's not a laxative it's
a shift in the viewed image versus the actual image).
Leaving the LCD screen off might get you up to 5 times
more life out of a set of batteries. Bye bye, bunny! | | |
| sceneramic places - richmond, england | | |
In the last Sceneramic Newsletter we visited Corfe
Castle in southern England. This time we're going to
stay in England and head north to visit Richmond.Richmond is situated in North Yorkshire and is nestled
between the Yorkshire Moors and Dales. If you follow a
straight line on a map from Manchester to Newcastle,
you'll find Richmond about 2/3 of the way between the
two, as the crow flies.

| movie - trainspotting | | |
Ever watched a movie and came away thinking that
wasn't even close to what you thought it was going to
be about... but in a good way? For those of you who
have watched Moulin Rouge you'll know exactly what
I'm talking about. While not a musical or comedy,
Trainspotting is a dark movie that you need to watch
more than once to catch all details to truly appreciate
it.With its hallucinatory visions of crawling dead babies
and a grungy plunge into the filthiest toilet in Scotland,
you might not think Trainspotting could have been one
of the best movies of 1996, but Danny Boyle's film
about heroin addicts in Edinburgh is all that and more.
So, put your preconceived notions to one side and
enjoy the film... because you will!
